We’ve teamed up with Neechie Gear camps to offer an empowering volleyball camp experience for Indigenous girls aged 11-13, with programming focused on building confidence and developing participants into whole athletes. Athletes will sleep overnight at The HOUSE, located near downtown Saskatoon, and volleyball sessions will take place at the nearby YWCA.
Programming and camp operations will be led by Kendra Weenie, an author, speaker, and former collegiate volleyball player from Sweetgrass First Nation. Coming from humble beginnings, Kendra has furthered her confidence, work ethic and sense of identity through sport and her culture, and her mission is to share these learnings with other young women.
What does it include?
Overnight campers: $450 + taxes per athlete. 16 overnight spots will be available for athletes to stay at The HOUSE and participate in all off-court programming, including nutrition and self-defence sessions. Includes meals and snacks.
Day campers: $300 + taxes per athlete. 8 day spots will be available for athletes to participate in volleyball activities, Racism in Sport presentation, and empowerment activity. Does not include meals or snacks.
